About CALAOMS

CALAOMS, pronounced Cal-A-Mus, is the acronym for the
California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

The California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS) is the only recognized California state component society of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). 

CALAOMS was founded in the mid 1980s as a representing body for both the Northern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NCSOMS) and the Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (SCSOMS).  In the late 1990s the three organizations unified into the sole entity of CALAOMS.

CALAOMS still holds and maintains DBAs for the following:
  • Southern California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - SCAOMS
  • Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - SCSOMS
  • Southern California Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - SCOMS
  • Northern California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - NCAOMS
  • Northern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons- NCSOMS
  • California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - CSOMS

CALAOMS was incorporated in the State of California as a Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation in 1994.
