The OMSA "Re-Certification" Course consists of access to the didactic self-study curriculum composed of narrated PowerPoint Presentation videos with quizzes and a Practice Final for you to review (Not Required), narrated Final Exam Review Course lecture videos (Required), and a Final Exam (Required).
You will have up to 4 months to complete the OMSA Course.
To be eligible to participate in the OMSA Re-Certification Course, you must have a current BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate* and a current OMSA Certificate. Please do not register for this course until you have these items. After you’ve registered and provided a copy of your current BLS and OMSA certificates, CALAOMS staff with process your registration and email you a “Confirmation of Registration” packet. You will also receive two emails with your Login instructions and Password from “noreply@em.ce.calaoms.org” within 10 business days.
*Classroom-based BLS course or online BLS course work with in-person skills testing is accepted. Online only BLS course is not accepted.
Starting in June of 2021, your new OMSA Certificate will only be valid for 2 years. You must Recertify by the end of the year that your OMSA Certificate expires. (We will honor the expiration date on your current certificate.)
Description: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant (OMSA) Re-Certification Course
The California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s OMSA certificate received by taking this course is an "Industry recognized certificate of completion" and not a State or Board recognized certification, permit, or license. The OMSA certificate does not allow the dental assistant to perform any additional duties other than those allowed by the Dental Practice Act.
